The City of Mason will accept applications for the position for a Full-Time Laborer in the Department of Public Works. This position offers a comprehensive and competitive benefit package and a starting wage of $21.50/hour. The laborer is generally supervised by the DPW Director or DPW Foreman and performs a variety of manual labor activities as directed.

Employees will operate City of Mason equipment and also serve in an on-call basis to handle emergency situations that may occasionally arise. Under general direction, performs a variety of tasks involving general construction, maintenance, and repair activities in connection with ground, building and equipment maintenance.

A Class A-CDL is required with air brakes and tanker endorsements (if needed) or the ability to obtain one within six months. The position requires knowledge of street, water, and sewer construction labor; methods, material and practices used in building and ground maintenance work as well as reasonable knowledge or ability to learn landscaping and forestry skills.

The position requires residency within 20 miles of the City. POLICE OFFICER

The Mason Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer. This position offers a comprehensive and competitive benefit package. Under supervision of a Police Sergeant; a sworn law enforcement officer who performs a broad range of police activities. A person in this position is responsible to serve the public through the knowledgeable enforcement of state laws and local ordinances. A police officer has general responsibilities to maintain order, regulate traffic, protect life and property, prevents crime and disorder; and to perform related work as required. A police officer will typically perform basic patrol and investigative tasks but may be directed to complete special assignments or tasks.

Minimum Requirements: Must possess a valid Michigan Operators License, have good moral character having never been convicted of a felony or serious traffic offense. Applicants must be MCOLES certified, certifiable, or currently within a certified Academy. Applicants will be required to pass a background investigation and medical exam.
